Milling Glass Grooves with Rounding

With Compass Software it is now possible to process glass grooves with a rounding.

For this purpose, the "Consider rounding" setting has been added to the floor plan predefinitions and the design specifications for existing stairs. If a glass panel with a radius runs into the front edge of the tread and the "Consider rounding" setting is active, the rounding radius is cut with 2 additional milling paths.

In the template, the additional processing is indicated by the T-shaped-marker. Activating the setting and transferring it to the template has several advantages:

  • Nothing happens that is not foreseen during the design process, since the function must be activated intentionally.
  • During production, it is clearly visible that a rounding operation is being performed and not just the groove at the edge.

This feature also works for z-riser stairs and external stairs.

For external stairs, the "with arc" setting allows the user to enter a radius value to activate the function. The new values are activated in the first tread and remain in the memory when further treads are entered, just like other values. This feature is available to all customers who have the External Stair option.

No adjustments are needed in the post-processor. The normal machining step creates the additional paths at the depth required for the radius of the glass pane.
